Diana Spencer (1961 - 1997): A Smart Beautiful Woman To Remember
Diana Spencer, born Diana Frances Spencer on July 1, 1961 in Sandringham, Norfolk, England, was the Princess of Wales, fashion and beauty icon, as well as a philanthropist.
After attending school in England and Swizerland, she became a kindergarten teacher. Albeit born in an affluent aristocratic family, her rise to global prominence, however, came with her marriage to Prince Charles of England alias Prince of Wales, in 1981, and becoming the Princess of Wales. Diana Spencer died in tragic car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris on August 31, 1997, almost exactly one year after her marriage to the Prince of Wales ended in divorce on August 28, 1996. She was only 36 year old.
As the Princess of Wales, Diana Spencer engaged in royal duties on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II of England, as well as accompanying her husband, the Prince of Wales, in some of his royal duties. She performed royal duties excellently, attracting great crowds and interest where ever she went, whether in the UK or abroad. Rumors were that she was more popular than the Prince of Wales!
Diana Spencer was stunningly beautiful and very stylish lady. She was always in trendy elegant outfits and fashion accessories. Her taste for fashion and beauty enhancement was so incredible and addictive that she became the most photographed woman in the world. Diana Spencer was not an ordinary beautiful English princess. Her extraordinary beauty was buttressed by incredible charisma, compassion, humbleness, kindness and empathy. Above all, she was a staunch philanthropist. She supported numerous charitable organizations and activities in the UK and abroad. She is particularly remembered for her strong support to HIV/AIDS and cancer patients. We still remember her fearlessly shaking hands with some HIV/AIDS patients in the UK at a time when people worldwide were naively dead scared of doing that. Diana Spencer is also remembered for her staunch support to the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. To that effect, she personally visited mined areas in Angola, and had face to face contact with victims of landmines there, as well as talking to local officials about the issue.
Diana Spencer's life presents and demonstrates what being a good person really means. If one does not know what good people do, then a revisit to the Diana Spencer's life would provide a clear answer! Her life has inspired people of all races and backgrounds, rich and poor, women and men, worldwide, simply because to her all of us are the same, i.e. no one is special. She had no prejudicial boundaries for who she could help or associate with, despite her extremely privileged upbringing and adult life. It is impossible to provide a description of Diana Spencer that will match her wonderful life and invaluable contribution to mankind, except that she was definitely one of the smartest beautiful women of all time.
