Serena Williams was born Serena Jameka Williams on September 26, 1981 in Saginaw, Michigan, USA. She is professional tennis player, fashion designer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.
Serena Williams began playing tennis at the tender age of three. In 1990 at the age of nine, she was enrolled at Rick Macci Tennis Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida. However, in 1995 at the age of fourteen and at the 9th grade, she was withdrawn from the academy by her father. She thereafter continued all tennis coaching at home.
On the same year she was pulled out from Rick Macci Academy, Serena Williams made her professional tennis debut at the Bell Challenge in Quebec, Canada, but lost in the first round.After almost four years entailing several other professional attempts in non-Grand Slam competitions, Serena Williams finally made her first Grand Slam appearance in 1998 at the Australian Open, losing at the second round to her sister Venus Williams. Nevertheless, her breakthrough to global fame and wealth was not far away. It came the following year in 1999 when she won her first Grand Slam Singles title at the US Open.
After her first Grand Slam Singles victory, Serena Williams' performance at the global tennis arena was phenomenal, winning more and more trophies in all years she wasn't having injury issues.
