Top 10 Celebrity Perfumes For Women 2020

Celebrity perfumes are perfumes launched by celebrities. The name of the perfumes is probably intended to distinguish perfumes by celebrities from those by renown global beauty brands like Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Victoria’s Secret, Versace, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani, etc.

Celebrity perfumes are usually targeted towards the millions of fans of the celebrities involved and often appeal most to young people. Also, celebrity perfumes are often cheaper than those by global beauty brands, although that may not necessarily mean they are of lower quality in comparison. That is because most celebrity perfumes are created by world class perfumers some of which also create perfumes for global beauty brands.

Origin of celebrity perfumes dates to 1981 when the legendary actress Sophia Loren launched a floral oriental fragrance called Sophia in collaboration with the beauty giant Coty Inc., hence the first ever celebrity perfume. Diva Cher probably following Sophia Loren footsteps, delivered her celebrity perfume fragrance Uninhibited Eau de Parfum six years later in 1987. However, celebrity perfumes never became particularly successful commercially until 1991 when iconic actress Elizabeth Taylor launched her masterpiece celebrity perfume White Diamonds Eau de Toilette. The latter became great commercial success instantly and has reportedly yielded over $1.5 billion in sales so far.

Inspired by the remarkable commercial success of Elizabeth Taylor’s White Diamonds EdT, many celebrities especially female celebrities have since then launched their own celebrity perfumes. They include Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Aniston, Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Ariana Grande, among others.
