Kamala Harris Becomes US Democratic Party's Vice Presidential Candidate

On August 11, 2020, Joe Biden, US Democratic party’s presidential candidate for the forthcoming presidential election in November 2020, announced on Twitter he has chosen Senator Kamala Harris as running mate hence vice presidential candidate. Senator Kamala Harris becomes the first female African American to become a vice presidential candidate on the banner of a major elite political party in US history.

Kamala Harris has been a US senator (CA) since 2017. Hitherto becoming a senator, she was California’s attorney general.
